J.GASPAR AROKIARAJ MOUTTAPA is the Founder Principal of Trinity School of
Music, Pondicherry. G.A.M was born at Pondicherry. He began his formal training in
western music (Guitar) at the age of 10 under Mr. J. Dominique a well known
western music tutor in Pondicherry and did his higher studies and comparitive
studies both in Pondicherry and Chennai.
He took the Post Graduation and M.Phil in English and that of Bachelor of Music and Diploma
in Teaching Education.
As the years flow by he realized the tremendous potential behind European Music
and this came into reality when he joined in the Cathedral Church choir , Pondicherry in 1976. He quickly graduated from Guitar to all the other
instruments (Piano, Violin, Mandolin) and finally selected Classical Guitar and Violin as his prime
instruments.
He has enriched his repertoire and academic knowledge with incessant study
coupled with ceaseless and sustained activity in association with musicians and
musicologists of repute.
He has also having 33 years of experience as a freelance teacher, composer and
performer in India and abroad.
G. A. Mouttapa has maintained an active career as performer, composer and
teacher involving broadcasts, recordings and public performance.
Apart from European music he has played with great musician's compositions, Dr. Balamurali Krishna, Kunnakudi Vaidhyanathan, Sirkazhi S. Govindharajan, Siva
Chidambaram, M.S. Viswanathan and famous Cine playback singer P. Susheela, T.M. Soundararajan,
Dr. P.B. Srinivas, T.R. Papa, B.M. Sundaram etc.,
He is the recipient of many awards and titles. The Government of Pondicherry
honoured him by the title of "Kalaimamani".
